Correr for CARE brings 75 runners, 40 volunteers

This October, we put on our very first 5k benefit event, “Correr for CARE” (“Correr” means “to run” in Spanish!)

We had to change the race location the day before the event due to flooding, but runners came out to County Park in Lancaster to support the project. Proceeds from the event go toward CARE’s second school building project in Honduras. We will build a school
in a community called los Ranchos de Esquimay, where 50 kids are currently sitting on rocks and stumps to attend class, under the shade of trees.

Desks for the school are being collected by the Manheim Township “CARE club” and will be shipped to Honduras later this year.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, participants, project donors, and event sponsors — Sandt Products, Church of the Apostles, Millersville Manor Self Storage, the Breneman Company, Subway, Herr’s, Turkey Hill, Wells Fargo, In Ian’s Boots, Road ID, and the Conestoga Wagon Restaurant. We appreciate the support of everyone who was involved or contributed toward this project and look forward to hosting the event again next year!!
