Correr for CARE 5k run/walk

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014

Title: Correr for CARE 5k run/walk
Location: Lancaster County Central Park, Lancaster, PA
Link out: Click here
Description: Our friends in Honduras have asked for our support in building a school in the community of Javier Soriano outside of Choluteca, Honduras. About 150 families living in the community, each living in a dwelling made of sticks, tarps, and cardboard. There are no community buildings in the area, including a school. More than 250 children live in the community, and to get to the nearest school, the children must cross the riverbed and walk an hour and a half to the closest school. This is a long, hot walk during the dry season, but the river crossing is impossible during the rainy season, during which time the children are unable to attend class. Help us raise the funds to build a school building in the community of Javier Soriano by donating today or registering to run “Correr for CARE” on October 11, 2014!

2014 Off to a Busy Start

2014 has been a busy year for us!

We’ve hosted volunteer groups from Grove City College, Church of the Apostles, Carol Martin’s Dental Team, Vanderbilt University, University of Florida, Franklin & Marshall College, and Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. In total, that’s 93 volunteers. With these groups, we’ve held 29 clinic days and seen 12,942 patients!

Several other projects have been taking place behind the scenes too – we received a shipping container of medical supplies in January, we opened the doors to the new school built in the community Los Ranchos de Esquimay, laid flooring at a school in El Chapparal converting from an elementary school to a C.E.B. (including high school students), we’ve launched a pilot site for our new “Consistent CARE

CARE is now ALSO registered at AmazonSmile!” program, and are awaiting the arrival of our next food container from Kids Against Hunger and wheelchair container from Free Wheelchair Mission.

All you have to do is visit “” rather than “” — When you shop at AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate to Central American Relief Efforts. Support us every time you shop!

Stay tuned for more updates about the progress we’re making this year.
